Shakshuka este un mic dejun specific israelian, ce are la baza un sos delicios de rosii si oua.

In mod tradional, sosul de rosii contine un amestec de ceapa prajita si ardei, insa nefiind tocmai pe placul nostru, am ales o varianta simpla cu rosii, condimente si ulei de masline.

Pana la urma, acesta este si farmecul in bucatarie … adaptam retete tradional la gustul nostru.

INGREDIENTE / INGREDIENTS:

(pentru 2 persoane / for 2 servings):

  • 4 oua / 4 eggs
  • 2 rosii mari / 2 big tomatoes
  • 4 linguri pasta de tomate / 4 tablespoons tomatoes sauce
  • 4 catei de usturoi / 4 garlic cloves
  • 3 linguri ulei de masline / 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 lingurita chimen / 1/2 teaspoon caraway
  • Fulgi de chilli / Chilli flakes
  • Piper / Pepper
  • Oregano / Oregano
  • 1 lingurita zahar / 1 teaspoon sugar

Intr-o tigaie incingem uleiul de masline si adaugam usturoiul strivit, chimenul si fulgii de chilli. Prajim usor timp de 1 minut astfel incat uleiul sa se infuzeze cu aroma condimentelor. Adaugam rosiile date pe razatoare, pasta de rosii, zaharul si oregano. Fierbem sosul de rosii pana devine dens. Adaugam oregano si piperul proaspat macinat.

La sfarsit adaugam ouale si presaram sare. Gatim sub capac timp de 4-5 minute. Dam deoparte, chiar daca ouale ni se par foarte moi. Ele vor continua sa se mai gateasca in sosul fierbinte si nu ne dorim niste oua “over-cooked”.

Presaram cu oregano si fulgi de chilli si servim cu paine integrala.

Shakshuka is a specific Israeli breakfast, based on a delicious tomato sauce and eggs.

Traditionally, tomato sauce contains a mixture of fried onions and peppers, but we chose a simple version with tomatoes, spices and olive oil.

After all, this is the charm in the kitchen … we adapt traditional recipes to our taste.

In a pan, heat the olive oil and add the crushed garlic, caraway and chilli flakes. Fry lightly for 1 minute so that the oil is infused with the aroma of spices. Add the grated tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar and oregano. Boil the tomato sauce until it becomes a thick sauce. Add oregano and freshly ground pepper.

At the end add eggs and sprinkle with salt. Cook under the lid for 4-5 minutes. Set aside, even if the eggs look very soft. They will continue to cook in the hot sauce and we do not want some „over-cooked” eggs.

Sprinkle with oregano and chilli flakes and serve with wholemeal bread.
