Oven-Baked Chicken Wings
Oven-Baked Chicken Wings – marinated, tender, irresistible, and inspired just right! There are good chicken wings, and then there are wings that practically fall off the bone—juicy, aromatic, and so good they leave your fingers deliciously sticky. These oven-baked chicken wings belong to the second category. Their secret isn’t complicated or flashy at first glance; it’s something simple yet essential: proper marination and slow cooking.
Yogurt, milk, and lemon juice tenderize the meat, the spices penetrate all the way to the bone, and slow baking makes the wings incredibly tender. In the end, a few minutes under the grill give them that perfect golden finish, turning them into an absolute must-try. When will you make them?
INGREDIENTS (for 4 servings)
- 1.5 kg chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
- 125 ml milk
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon hot pepper paste
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Clean the chicken wings well and pat them dry with a paper towel. Place them in a large bowl and add the Greek yogurt, milk, crushed garlic, olive oil, tomato sauce, hot pepper paste, pepper, thyme, salt, and lemon juice. Mix thoroughly so every wing is well coated with the marinade.
Cover the bowl and marinate the wings in the refrigerator for a few hours—ideally overnight. The longer they marinate, the more tender and flavorful they’ll be.
Remove the wings from the fridge about one hour before cooking and arrange them in a single layer on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for about one hour, turning them halfway through so they cook evenly.
In the last 5 minutes, switch on the grill function to brown them beautifully and create a light, appetizing crust.
Serve the wings hot, alongside baked potatoes, fresh vegetables, and sauces of your choice. We paired them with a yogurt–sour cream garlic sauce (recipe here), sweet chili sauce, and sriracha mayo—the perfect combination for a sharing platter.
Tender, aromatic, and absolutely irresistible, these chicken wings are the kind of recipe you make once and keep close. Slow cooked, full flavor, inspiration at its best.
