on

La Petre Pescarul – Authentic Flavor with a Sea View

In Eforie Sud, among the places where food and scenery blend harmoniously, you’ll find La Petre Pescarul – a restaurant that breathes the scent of the sea and brings the freshness of the waves straight to your plate. Set right on the water’s edge, this place has the charm of a fisherman’s tale told at leisure, with the breeze brushing your cheeks and the sound of the waves accompanying every bite. Or at least, that’s how it should be… and I’ll share what I mean in the next article: La Petre Pescarul – authentic flavor with a sea view.

A terrace with a storybook view

Here, most of the tables are positioned so you have a direct view of the beach and the sea. Early in the day, you can watch the light dancing on the waves between beach umbrellas, while in the evening, the sunset paints the sky in warm shades. It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to linger, just to soak in the relaxing view of the sea and the shore.

A complete experience, but a little less salty

If we hadn’t ordered anything and had just enjoyed the location and view, the story could have ended here. However, the dishes didn’t quite live up to the promise of the menu or the beauty of the place – or at least, not the ones we tried.

We ordered grilled garfish (Zargan la plită) – a fish with delicate white meat, cooked simply yet spectacularly. On the hot grill, the garfish keeps its juicy texture and subtle sea aroma, developing a lightly crispy golden crust. Each bite is a mix of wild freshness and authentic flavor, perfectly complemented by a squeeze of lemon and a side of unsalted polenta. It’s the kind of dish that makes you feel like you caught the fish yourself on a summer morning and are now savoring it just steps from the waves.

Also from the “from us, with love for fish!” section, we tried the grilled turbot (Calcan la plită) – the king of the Black Sea, masterfully cooked on the grill. The white, tender, and juicy meat is wrapped in a golden, slightly crisp crust while retaining all the authentic flavor of the fish. Served simply, with a drizzle of lemon and that same unsalted polenta, the grilled turbot becomes a true marine feast that brings the taste of the sea right to your plate – perfectly matching the view from the water’s edge.

From the “main dishes without fish” section, our small team ordered Peter’s Smashed Burger – a well-made burger with a crispy crust, juicy meat, and fries. And from the “with love for seafood” section, we chose Shrimp Saganaki – fresh shrimp cooked in a flavorful tomato, garlic, and wine sauce, topped with melted feta cheese that stretches deliciously with every bite. The dish combines the intense taste of the sea with Mediterranean aromas, offering an explosion of flavor on the plate, served warm with fresh bread on the side.

The friendly atmosphere, the sea-view terrace, and the food that seems to preserve the story of every fisherman – all make this restaurant more than just a place to eat. It’s an experience that feeds both your appetite and your love for the sea… provided, of course, that the dishes come with a bit of salt!

At La Petre Pescarul, the presentation in the menu and the charm of the location stole the show, even more than the fresh fish served with unsalted polenta. Each dish should have been a star, but only the seaside view truly turned the meal into an unforgettable experience.
