Pentru ca daca friganelele clasice sunt bune, friganelele din croissante vechi cu Nutella sunt pur si simplu de neuitat! Secretul acestei retete sta in doua lucruri simple: croissantele de o zi — pe care altfel le-ai arunca — care absorb perfect amestecul de lapte si ou si devin moi la interior si crocante la exterior, si sosul de vanilie facut in casa, cremos, parfumat si catifelat, care transforma totul intr-un desert sofisticat. Adauga capsuni proaspete deasupra si ai un preparat care arata ca scos dintr-un meniu de brunch parizian! Fara prajeli complicate, fara ingrediente greu de gasit — doar croissante, Nutella, un ou si lapte, plus un sos de vanilie simplu dar extraordinar de bun. Este reteta pe care o faci cu croissantele ramase si dupa care toata lumea cere bis! 🍓

INGREDIENTE (pentru 2 portii)
Pentru croissant french toast:
- 2 croissante
- 2 linguri Nutella
- 1 ou
- 50 ml lapte
- capsuni proaspete
Pentru sosul de vanilie:
- 150 ml lapte
- 2 galbenusuri
- 25 grame zahar
- ¼ pastaie vanilie
- 1 praf de sare

Incepem cu sosul de vanilie — poate fi pregatit din timp si pastrat la frigider. Intr-o craticioara punem laptele, galbenusurile, zaharul, sarea si pastaia de vanilie despicata pe lungime, cu semintele razuite si adaugate in lapte. Amestecam bine si punem pe foc mic — atentie sa nu fiarba, altfel galbenusurile se vor coagula. Gatim la foc mic timp de aproximativ 7 minute, amestecand constant cu o spatula, pana cand crema se ingroasa usor si acopera spatula. Scoatem pastaia de vanilie si lasam crema sa se tempereze. Se serveste calda sau rece, dupa preferinta.

Trecem la croissante — le taiem pe jumatate pe lungime si le ungem generos cu Nutella pe ambele parti interioare. Acoperim cu cealalta jumatate si presam usor. Intr-un bol mic punem laptele si in altul oul batut. Trecem fiecare croissant mai intai prin lapte — lasam cateva secunde sa absoarba — apoi prin oul batut, acoperind bine pe toate partile.
Incalzim aparatul de sandwichuri si asezam croissantele umplute. Gatim timp de 3-4 minute, pana cand devin frumos rumenite, crocante la exterior si cu Nutella topita si cremoasa la interior.

Turnam sosul de vanilie cald pe o farfurie intinsa, asezam croissantele french toast fierbinti deasupra si acoperim cu capsuni proaspete taiate sau intregi. Primul gust? O combinatie de crocant, cremos, ciocolatos si parfumat care te face sa inchizi ochii si sa savurezi fiecare imbucatura! 🥐🍓✨

Croissant French Toast with Nutella and Vanilla Sauce
There are dishes that instantly take you back to childhood — those lazy Sunday mornings, the smell of toasted bread and the plate waiting patiently on the table. French toast is exactly one of those dishes. Today we reinvent it in a more refined, more modern and equally comforting version — Croissant French Toast with Nutella and vanilla sauce. Because if classic french toast is good, french toast made from day-old croissants with Nutella is simply unforgettable! The secret of this recipe lies in two simple things: day-old croissants — which you would otherwise throw away — that absorb the milk and egg mixture perfectly and become soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, and the homemade vanilla sauce, creamy, fragrant and velvety, that transforms everything into a sophisticated dessert. Add fresh strawberries on top and you have a dish that looks like it came straight from a Parisian brunch menu! No complicated frying, no hard-to-find ingredients — just croissants, Nutella, an egg and milk, plus a simple but extraordinarily good vanilla sauce. It is the recipe you make with leftover croissants and after which everyone asks for seconds! 🍓
INGREDIENTS (for 2 servings)
For the croissant french toast:
- 2 croissants
- 2 tablespoons Nutella
- 1 egg
- 50 ml milk
- fresh strawberries
For the vanilla sauce:
- 150 ml milk
- 2 egg yolks
- 25 grams sugar
- ¼ vanilla pod
- 1 pinch of salt
We start with the vanilla sauce — it can be prepared ahead of time and kept in the fridge. In a small saucepan place the milk, egg yolks, sugar, salt and vanilla pod split lengthways, with the seeds scraped out and added to the milk. Mix well and place over low heat — be careful not to let it boil, otherwise the egg yolks will curdle. Cook over low heat for approximately 7 minutes, stirring constantly with a spatula, until the cream thickens slightly and coats the spatula. Remove the vanilla pod and leave the cream to cool. Serve warm or cold, according to preference.
Now for the croissants — cut them in half lengthways and spread generously with Nutella on both interior sides. Cover with the other half and press gently. Place the milk in one small bowl and the beaten egg in another. Dip each croissant first in the milk — leave for a few seconds to absorb — then in the beaten egg, coating well on all sides.
Heat the sandwich maker and place the filled croissants inside. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until they become beautifully golden, crispy on the outside and with melted, creamy Nutella on the inside.
Pour the warm vanilla sauce onto a flat plate, place the hot croissant french toast on top and cover with fresh strawberries, sliced or whole. The first taste? A combination of crispy, creamy, chocolatey and fragrant that makes you close your eyes and savour every single bite! 🥐🍓✨
