In plimbarile noastre prin Menton, oraselul cu aer mediteranean si parfum de citrice, am descoperit Leone Restaurant, un colt de Italia adus direct pe malul marii. Locul promite mai mult decat o simpla masa – este o experienta in care aromele, ingredientele proaspete si prezentarea impecabila fac toata diferenta. Din motive obiective l-am ratat de doua ori, insa cea de-a treia intalnire a fost cu noroc iar cina a fost una pe cinste: Leone Restaurant – savoare italiana in inima Menton.

Deschis in 2010, restaurantul este cald si primitor, cu decor elegant, dar fara pretentii, perfect pentru a te bucura de o cina relaxanta. Terasa, cu vedere catre centrul istoric si stradutele pitoresti, iti ofera sentimentul ca esti intr-o micuta oaza italiana chiar in Franta.

Restaurantul Leone este situat in fata marii, pe o strada inchisa traficului, care face atmosfera si mai magica.

Este impartit in 3 zone: sala interioara, terasa si gradina, unde se poate manca atat vara, cat si iarna, sub soare, printre palmierii de pe Coasta de Azur.

Gusturi autentice

La Leone, chef Paolo Leone transforma paste, vita si fructe de mare in adevarate vedete ale farfuriei, pentru un gust autentic italian care te face sa revii mereu.

Am fost intampinati cu o Foccacia pufoasa, aurie la exterior si moale in interior, presarata cu rosii coapte care adauga dulceata naturala si un strop de prospetime – un inceput perfect pentru cina la Leone Restaurant.

Am incercat Duo di Polpo alla griglia, un festival de arome mediteraneene: carnea frageda a caracatitelor, perfect fripta la gratar, se imbina cu legumele proaspete, crocante si usor caramelizate, care aduc culoare si prospetime farfuriei. Fiecare imbucatura este o explozie de gust – marin, savuros si cu acea nota fina de fum dat de gratar – un preparat care te teleporteaza instant in bucataria italiana autentica, direct pe malul Mediteranei.

Din sectiunea paste am incercat Pennoni con crema di funghi e speck affumicato – un preparat care imbina rusticitatea si rafinamentul italian. Pastele pennoni, perfecte la textura, se cuibaresc intr-un sos cremos de ciuperci, iar feliile subtiri de speck afumat adauga profunzime si aroma intensa, usor sarata. Fiecare imbucatura este un echilibru desavarsit intre savoarea pamantului si nota delicata afumata a carnii, o combinatie simpla, dar memorabila, care te face sa inchizi ochii si sa te bucuri pur si simplu de gust.

Tot la capitolul paste, am incercat si Tagliolini con Vongole Veraci un fel culinar la care fiecare imbucatura aduce prospetimea marii direct in farfurie. Pastele proaspete, fine si delicate, se imbina perfect cu scoicile veraci, suculente si pline de aroma marina, iar sosul usor de ulei de masline, usturoi si vin alb leaga toate ingredientele intr-un echilibru desavarsit. Fiecare imbucatura este o explozie de prospetime si gust autentic italian, un fel de mancare care te face sa simti briza Mediteranei in fiecare moment.

During our walks through Menton, the small town with a Mediterranean charm and a hint of citrus in the air, we discovered Leone Restaurant — a corner of Italy brought right to the seaside. This place promises more than just a meal – it’s an experience where flavors, fresh ingredients, and impeccable presentation make all the difference. We missed it twice for objective reasons, but the third time was the charm — and the dinner was truly worth the wait: Leone Restaurant – Italian flavor in the heart of Menton.

Opened in 2010, the restaurant is warm and welcoming, with an elegant yet unpretentious décor, perfect for enjoying a relaxing dinner. The terrace, overlooking the historic center and its picturesque streets, gives you the feeling of being in a little Italian oasis right in France.

Leone Restaurant is located by the sea, on a pedestrian street that adds even more magic to the atmosphere. It’s divided into three areas: the indoor dining room, the terrace, and the garden — where you can dine both in summer and winter, under the sun, surrounded by the palm trees of the French Riviera.

Authentic flavors

At Leone, Chef Paolo Leone transforms pasta, beef, and seafood into true stars of the plate, creating authentic Italian flavors that make you want to return again and again.

We were welcomed with a fluffy focaccia, golden on the outside and soft inside, sprinkled with roasted tomatoes that add natural sweetness and a touch of freshness — the perfect start to dinner at Leone Restaurant.

We tried the Duo di Polpo alla griglia, a festival of Mediterranean aromas: tender grilled octopus paired with fresh, crisp, lightly caramelized vegetables that bring color and brightness to the dish. Every bite is an explosion of flavor — marine, savory, and with a subtle smoky note from the grill — a dish that instantly transports you to authentic Italian cuisine, right on the shores of the Mediterranean.

From the pasta section, we chose Pennoni con crema di funghi e speck affumicato – a dish that blends rustic charm with Italian refinement. The pennoni pasta, perfectly al dente, nestles in a creamy mushroom sauce, while thin slices of smoked speck add depth and a gently salty, aromatic touch. Each bite is a perfect balance between earthy flavor and the delicate smokiness of the meat — a simple yet memorable combination that makes you close your eyes and savor the taste.

Also from the pasta selection, we tried Tagliolini con Vongole Veraci – a dish where every bite brings the freshness of the sea straight to your plate. The fresh, delicate pasta pairs beautifully with the juicy, flavorful clams, while the light sauce of olive oil, garlic, and white wine ties everything together in perfect harmony.
