Hawaiian Buns

Si exista chifle care iti raman in minte.

Hawaiian Buns

Hawaiian Buns – soft, lightly sweet rolls with an exotic aroma, inspiration at its best! There are buns that are good. And then there are buns you remember. Hawaiian buns belong to the second category. Soft, fluffy, lightly sweet, with a subtle pineapple aroma, these are the kind of buns you can easily pull apart by hand—and they disappear quickly from the table. They’re perfect on their own, with a bit of butter, but become absolutely irresistible in burgers or sandwiches with exotic notes. This version of Hawaiian buns is simple, with no complicated ingredients, yet the result is spectacular. The pineapple juice gives them that subtle sweetness and an incredibly soft texture, while the butter makes them tender and aromatic. Once you try them homemade, it’s hard to go back to store-bought ones.

INGREDIENTS (for 6 buns)

  • 115 ml pineapple juice
  • 45 ml milk
  • 25 g sugar
  • 35 g butter
  • 15 g dried yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 280 g flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Pour the pineapple juice, milk, sugar, and 20 g of the butter into a small saucepan. Heat gently, just until the butter melts and the liquids are warm—not hot. Add the dried yeast, stir lightly, and let it rest for 10 minutes, until the yeast activates.

Add the egg, flour, and salt, then knead until you get a soft, slightly sticky dough. Transfer it to a floured surface, lightly shape it with a bit of extra flour, then place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let the dough rise for about one hour, until doubled in volume.

Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface, divide it into 6 equal pieces, and shape them into balls. Place them in a baking dish, cover with a towel, and let them rise for another 20 minutes.

Melt the remaining butter and brush the buns, then bake them in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for about 15 minutes, until beautifully golden.

Let them cool slightly, then serve them plain, with butter or jam, or use them in burgers or sandwiches with an exotic twist.
